She was born on July 30, 1945, in Peoria, Illinois, to James and Maxine Anderson. In 1961, her family relocated to Fort Pierce, Florida, where she graduated from Dan McCarty High School with the Class of 1963.
Linda married her beloved husband, Bill Reid, on October 22, 1967, and together they shared 53 wonderful years before his passing. Fittingly, she was called home to Heaven just two days before what would have been their 58th wedding anniversary.
After their marriage, Linda and Bill were blessed with two children, Ryan and Sheila. She cherished her years as a stay-at-home mother, pouring her love and energy into her family. Never one to sit idle, Linda also contributed as a talented seamstress, a craft she truly enjoyed. Later, she joined Indian River Community College as an Accounts Receivable Clerk, where she worked until her retirement in 2005. Around that time, following her breast cancer diagnosis, she and Bill relocated to Brevard County to be closer to their granddaughter.
Throughout her life, Linda embraced a variety of interests and hobbies — boating, fishing, water skiing, sewing, playing cards, traveling, live theater, bowling, and square and round dancing.
In retirement, she remained active in her community, giving generously of her time through volunteer work. Linda held many leadership roles with The Space Trackers square dance club, including Secretary, Vice President, and President, and served as a delegate for the Florida Federation of Square and Round Dance. She also led the bereavement committee at First Baptist Church of Cocoa and regularly volunteered at local voting precincts.
Linda’s love for the Lord was unwavering, and her devotion to family never faltered. She was the heart that kept her family connected; bridging the miles between her Florida home and her loved ones in Illinois, Iowa, and California with her warmth, love, and steady presence. She was kindhearted, compassionate, and full of grace.
To know Linda was to love her — and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Linda is survived by son, Ryan and daughter-in-law Diana Mims-Reid of Cocoa, daughter, Sheila Reid of Melbourne, granddaughter, Shannon Reid of Denver, CO, sister, Leta and her husband Lee Jenkins of Port St. Lucie, sister-in-law, Carol and her husband Alan Rhodes of Fort Pierce, nieces, Taylor and her husband Jeffrey (Jeff) Brown of Port. St. Lucie, Sherry and her husband Aaron Ledlow of Gulf Hammock, nephews, Gary and his wife Cheri Rhodes of Fort Pierce, Henry Rhodes of Fort Pierce, great nephew, Hunter Brown of Port St. Lucie, and other loving relatives. She is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Reid, mother and stepfather, Maxine and Emmett Ward, father, James Anderson, and sister, Koeta Lintz.
