Lloyd was the first son born to Lloyd L. Williams, Sr. and wife Mildred (Krell) in Jacksonville, FL on January 31, 1927. He enjoyed being big brother to Roberta (James Winter of Melrose) and Dr. Earl L. Williams (Betty Baker) of Jacksonville.
Lloyd remembered it as a great time to grow up, spending his boyhood days hunting and fishing in the Ocala National Forest. He loved and respected his parents and family, with his father being his best friend. He was a natural athlete who played football and other sports at Robt E. Lee High, (’44) where he won a scholarship to Duke University.
He graduated from Duke in three years, and after working in Atlanta for several years, he returned to get his engineering degree at the University of Florida.
He was then offered a position with Florida Power and Light in Miami FL . This is where he met the love of his life, Jean. The couple enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was a gentle, loving, and kind man. He had a great work ethic, was respected at work, and led his people well.
When Lloyd retired in Miami as Director of Rates and Research, they settled in Suntree and continued to enjoy the golfing community. He was also a natural dancer, who kept his dance card full at country club functions. He was well liked and had a happy retirement filled with golfing with Jean and country club pals. Lloyd was happiest when he and Jean were making memories with family and friends. His many nieces and nephews will miss his laugh and his great hugs!
After becoming a Christian in 2001, Lloyd grew in his faith through Bible study and worship at Calvary Chapel Viera for many years.
In 2010 Lloyd graciously accepted his Alzheimer’s diagnosis. They continued to enjoy life and family until a fall put him into Autumn House. He had a great attitude while there, enjoying holidays, dancing, and activities.
Lloyd is survived by his wife and best friend, Jean; his sister Roberta Winter and his brother Earl WiIliams.
Lloyd moved up to heaven on December 17, 2020. He is now seeing his Savior face to face, and possibly dancing down those streets of gold.
Donations may be made to the loving caregivers at Autumn House or the Alzheimer’s Association.
