Lois Annette (Baker) Youdbulis

Lois Annette Baker Youdbulis, 89, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, surrounded by her family as she was welcomed into the arms of Jesus. Lois was born on February 15, 1937, in Middlesboro, Kentucky to George and Esther Baker, and was the oldest of their four children. Growing up in the coal mining hills of Harlan and Pineville, Kentucky helped shape the strong, resilient, and determined woman she would become. Though her siblings were known for lively childhood shenanigans, Lois was often the peacemaker, bringing order to their chaos.

At just 18 years old, Lois answered a calling to care for others by enrolling at St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Knoxville, Tennessee. Upon graduation, she began her nursing career at Harlan Hospital in Kentucky. The Baker family slowly started migrating to Florida, and Lois followed suit, moving to Rockledge in 1967 to join them. For nearly five decades she faithfully served patients and their families, spending most of her remarkable career at Wuesthoff Hospital. During her tenure, she served as a Head Nurse and later worked in Infection Control during her “retirement”, earning the admiration and deep respect of physicians, nurses, coworkers, and countless patients whose lives were touched by her compassion, skill, and unwavering dedication.

In 1974, Lois married the love of her life, Al Youdbulis. Together they shared 39 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, travel, countless remodeling projects, and treasured memories. They especially enjoyed exploring new places, dining out, cruising, participating at the Elks Lodge of Cocoa, and serving at Church at Viera.

Those who knew Lois will forever remember her timeless elegance, sparkling green eyes, radiant smile, sharp intelligence, and quiet strength. She loved the rich colors of red and burgundy, was an avid reader, enjoyed women’s daily devotionals, and never met a crossword puzzle she couldn’t conquer—in ink, of course. She stayed connected with family and friends through Facebook, happily welcomed deliveries from Amazon and QVC, and found joy in traveling, cooking, decorating, and shopping. Yet nothing meant more to her than time spent with family. Whether gathered for a celebration or simply sharing an ordinary afternoon, just being together filled her heart. Lois was an extraordinary woman, and her family often affectionately called her “Lolo” or “Miss Loisy”. Her legacy is one of faith, kindness, class, and unwavering devotion. Miss Loisy was beautiful from the inside out and absolutely made this world a better place.

Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Al Youdbulis; her parents, George and Esther Baker; her sister, Sherry Harris; and her brother Kenneith Baker. She is lovingly survived by numerous family members, friends, and special neighbors. Lois will be especially missed by her baby sister, Linda (John) Wittersheim; her devoted nieces, Karen (Tim) Trent, Amy (Jeff) Russell, and Jennifer Harris; cherished great-nieces Taylor (Dean) Legge and Brooke Russell; and special cousins Danny Busseni, Brent Browning, and Gabby Busseni—all of whom will carry her in their hearts forever. Though our hearts are absolutely broken, we celebrate a life beautifully lived—a life marked by integrity, love, generosity, and a rare elegance that will never be forgotten.

The family wishes to acknowledge Holmes Regional Medical Center and VITAS Hospice for their exceptional care of Lois and family during her final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Florida, on Friday, July 24, 2026. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, followed by a service at 2:00 pm.
