
Lucien (Jay) J. Berteau, Jr., from Melbourne Florida, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his children on Tuesday, January 27th, 2015. He was 92 years old. He was born in Baton Rouge, LA on September 7, 1922 and was raised in nearby Gonzales. He was the eldest of seven siblings. He served his country as hospital administrator in the Navy, the Army Air Corp, and finally the Air Force. He was assigned with his family throughout the United States and Europe. He loved travelling, was spontaneous, curious, and an adventurous man. He loved to cook and was an avid Dixieland banjo musician.
After retirement, Jay moved to Brevard County in 1976 with his wife, Emmy Lou (Reuter). Emmy Lou preceded him in death after 62 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Lou, and his son, Lucien (Jamie) Berteau, III and wife, Susan. He is also survived by his brother, Jimmy, and sister, Bettie (Carmody).
There will be a celebration of his life at 1pm on Sunday, February 15 in the Buena Vida Estates Chapel, 2129 West New Haven Avenue, Melbourne, FL.
