She was widely known as an accomplished portrait artist, as well as a pianist who composed, arranged and taught music. Rather than use her talents for personal gain, she used her abilities to serve God and others. Jo was beautiful, vivacious, and talented. She lived simply, gave sacrificially, and loved unconditionally. We are thankful that Jesus died for all sinners because sinners are dying: some--like Jo--were saved by His blood and entered immediately into the presence of Jesus. Others are now wishing they had trusted Christ while there was still time. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8,9. Thank God for Grace!
Jo is survived by those she treasured: her dear husband William F. Petty; her loving daughters: Nancy Ervin (Craig), Anita Saunders; her precious grandchildren: Joey (Candice) Ervin, Jennifer Ervin, Brandon Saunders, Kevin Saunders, Amanda Saunders; precious great-grandchildren: Natalie & Alexander Ervin; her loving siblings: Ruth McCane (O.C.), Betty Cottings, Luther Barnett, Kenneth Hughes (Pat), Beverly Ballard (Theodore) & Peggy Wilson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Rev. L.L. & Nancy Hughes; siblings: Saundra Hughes, Bud Hughes, & Jackie Barnett (Luther).
Visitation will begin at 2:00pm with funeral services at 3:00 pm Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Life Event Center at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 S. US Hwy 1, Rockledge, FL.
