Marika Symeonides

Marika Symeonides, 87 of Viera, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Kindred Hospital in Melbourne. She was born in Greece and came to Brevard County in 2008. She was a graduate of the University of Chicago and later worked as a nursing instructor at the University of Chicago. She was a member of St Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church in Melbourne

She is survived by her sons; Dr. John Symeonides (Stacy) of Palm Coast, FL, Dr. Simon Symeonides (Jovi) of Viera, FL, two grandchildren; Gabriel and Sophia Symeonides of Viera, FL and a brother; Harry Gabrielides (Esther) of Chicago, IL.. She was preceded in death by her husband; Dr. Gabriel Symeonides and her son; Dr. Petros Symeonides.

She was a very humble person who spoke 7 languages fluently. She worked with her husband for many years as he traveled the world as a doctor for the United Nations. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and especially spending time with her family and friends.

A visitation will be held at St Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 5965 N. Wickham Rd Melbourne, FL 32940 on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 2-3 pm with a service to follow at 3pm. Interment will be in Florida Memorial Gardens.
