Marge Hall

Viera

Marge was born in Conifer, New York, on July 20, 1920. When she was 3, Marge and her family moved to Lewisburg, where her family owned and ran a restaurant, gas station and an apartment house known as Stone Villa Haven.

Marge met her future husband, Orange William (Bill) Hall, literally on her doorstep, as he was the milk man. Orange was attending college and planned a career in the Army Air Corps.

During her many years as a military wife, Marge traveled extensively with her husband, Orange, and her daughters (Dawn Hall Lewis, Savannah, GA, and Sally Hall Holmes, Ocala, FL) to the exotic foreign shores of Japan and Saudi Arabia, throughout Europe, and to many cities within the continental US.

It was upon Orange's first retirement (from the military) that the couple came to reside in Savannah, GA. Orange became the Dean of the business department at Armstrong State College. Marge applied her skills as president for the Retired Officer's Association Ladies Auxiliary as well as volunteering through her work with The Garden Club of Savannah, the thrift store at Hunter, and with her church.

The couple's final retirement led them to Melbourne, FL, where they lived at the Indian River Colony Club. They then moved to its associate, Town Square Assisted Living Complex. While at Town Square, Marge showed her generous heart once again, volunteering at the Thrift Shop at Patrick AFB. In addition, she spent many hours calling Bingo, organizing the library, furnishing and finishing the sun porch to include an automatic handicap accessible door, so that it might be comfortably used by all members of Town Square for their enjoyment.

Dr. Hall preceded Marge on his final journey, on October 2, 2009. Marge continued living at Town Square surrounded by her friends and enjoying visits from her family. Her last few days she rested at The Wuesthoff Hospice House in Rockledge, FL, lovingly cared for and surrounded by members of her immediate family and friends. She passed away August 1, 2012.

Her strength, generosity and grace leave a lasting and memorable impact on all who have known and loved her.

As the nephew of Bill Hall and of Marge, I felt more like a younger brother. Bill was only 8 older than I. My fondest memories covered many years but in particular I recall the summer that I spent with Marge and Bill in Austin TX when I was 16 and Bill was an instructor at a USAF Base near Austin. We had great times seeing the surrounding vicinity. I also visited them in Japan when I was stationed in Korea. Bill was the Commanding Officer of the Itami Air Force Base at that time. Marge and Bill will be always on my mind. Dick Furman, Bloomsburg, PA

Marge was a drum major and always had great style. She loved to entertain and was a gracious lady.
