Mary and Doug were married in Dubuque, IA, in 1965 and went on to raise their five children. From there, Mary dedicated her life to the care and well-being of others through decades of employment at multiple retirement communities.

She had significant church and community involvement including several personal small businesses she shared with Doug: rental stores, a catering business, and most recently, Mary's Formalwear and Awesome Blossoms Bridal.

She was a member of the Women's Prosperity Network and the Better Business Development Council (BBDC) for the Cocoa Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Mary passed away peacefully alongside her entire family.

I was so sad to hear of Mary's Passing. I worked here at the Flower & Bridal Shop with her and she was always so positive. She loved watching me make flower arrangements and she would say she loved what I did, and then the next one she would say "I love that one better". She was a joy, and I loved having her around here. She was full of ideas and was a good listener. She gave me a few scares here at the shop with her oxygen tank, and I had to change it for her, but she never got concerned, just waited patiently, while I was freaking out, hahaha. She was a sweet, fun, loving, wonderful person and I miss her a lot around here. I am so glad to help make her last days as happy with her dream of helping brides have the best day ever. I know that God is taking great care of her now and she is watching us all and praying for us. She was always positive about everything. I feel honored to have met Mary when I did, and I believe we meet people for a reason and she touched my heart and I'm thankful she came into my life. Love you Mary.....Gina

Dear Doug and family, though our friendship is decades in the past, we still have wonderful memories of fun times shared when our families were very young. We are so glad we had our visit of last summer to catch up with each other's lives. You and Mary had quite a varied journey together. May our loving Lord hold you close in the coming weeks and months. Peace and blessings always, Leland and Peggy Smithson, Cedar Rapids, IA

Doug: I always enjoyed the privilege of bringing communion to you and Mary. She was always so gracious with that ever present smile on each and every visit. You both were clearly everything to each other, and it was beautiful to see. Thank you for the opportunity to get to know you both. I so enjoyed being around the warmth of your love for each other and will keep that memory with me. Mary touched my life with her strength and faith. Much love to you and your family during this sad time. Sabrina

Mary, you will be missed at the shop! I will miss sitting and having lunch with you. I will miss talking with you. You were always so kind and understanding. You always listened to me, without judgement. I think you have, (not had) a beautiful smile! Your inner radiance glowed and reflected the beautiful soul you have! I know you are with God. My heart goes out to the Sharpe family.
