Mary V. Tomlinson

July 15, 1926September 8, 2018

Mary V. Tomlinson was called home to the Lord on Sept. 8, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Tomlinson, to whom she was married for 73 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Wilkes, and her son, David Tomlinson, as well as 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, dozens of great-great-grandchildren and one fine recipe for fried apple pies.

She was a member of First Baptist Church Merritt Island since 1956, as well as a breast cancer survivor. All who knew her remember her spunky, generous personality, her love of God and her passions for sewing, playing card games with friends and always putting her loved ones before herself.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial in Rockledge; visitation begins at 1 p.m.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the TOMLINSON family.

I have known Mary (Granny), for over 30 years. I came to know her and granddaddy through their granddaughter Sarah Avery. I loved her so much. She always welcomed me anytime I wanted to come by. We would sometimes go over and play Canasta with her and granddad, I miss those times. And she was definitely a great cook! I was able to sit with her a few times awile back, I read to her and we talked about family and kids and grandkids, she loved her family so very much. She cared enough about me to say, Your my adoptive granddaughter. I Love you Granny, until we meet again.

We were so fortunate to have known Mary and Don through our RV Club "The Lunar Rovers"! We spent many wonderful weekends with them, playing cards, enjoying GOOD FOOD and just plain old wonderful comraderie. Mary was always such a sweet person and a wonderful friend. She will be missed but she and Don are once more together; hopefully driving all over heaven in their new RV.
Our best to Diane and the rest of the family.
