

Melissa Anne Marianetti, 62, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. She was born on August 20, 1962, in Portland, Maine, and was a long-time resident of Merritt Island, Florida.
Melissa graduated from Nathan Bedford Forrest High School in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1980. She dedicated her life to protecting and caring for others, beginning her career as a volunteer firefighter with the Cocoa Beach Fire Department. In 1985, she joined NASA Fire Rescue at the John F. Kennedy Space Center as a full-time firefighter, and in 1992, she earned her paramedic license.
Her distinguished career spanned more than two decades, culminating in her retirement from active service in 2008. During her tenure, Melissa’s work took her around the world in support of launch operations, where she served as a member of the astronaut rescue team. She brought exceptional skill, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the fire service—leaving a lasting impact on all those she worked with and served.
Those who knew Melissa remember her remarkable strength and steadfast determination—she never gave up, no matter how challenging the situation. Whether facing personal trials or professional demands, her resilience was legendary among colleagues and loved ones. Her strength wasn't just physical; it was a deep inner fortitude that carried her through every challenge with grace.
Above all, Melissa had a huge heart and loved without fear. This fearless love defined her life and relationships—always ready to put others before herself, whether family, friends, or those she served.
She was actively involved in numerous civic and community organizations, including Eastern Star (Canaveral Lodge Worthy Matron), The Ladies' Oriental Shrine of North America (Hadji Court High Priestess), Dixie Sailing Association, and the Navy League, among others. She enjoyed fishing, sailing, gardening, puzzles, traveling, and spending time with her beloved dog, Elvis, and her cats.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Sr. and Mildred Smiley, and her brother Edward Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband, David Singh; daughter Samantha Terry (Myron); son Joseph Marianetti (Sarah); daughter Savannah (Austin Daix); grandchildren Mick and Isla; sisters Marta White and Maureen Kelley (Michael); and numerous nieces and nephews.
