Michael J. Shiels Jr.

Michael Joseph Shiels, Jr., passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013. He was born to the late Michael J. Shiels, Sr. and Marilyn Shiels Lawson on December 23, 1954 in Newark, NJ and grew up in South River, NJ. He moved to Florida in 1993. Mike enjoyed life and loved to cook and entertain, especially on holidays. He worked in merchandising most of his career and was currently working at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial.

Mike is survived by his mother, Marilyn Lawson of Cocoa; brother, Gary (Darlene) Shiels of Cocoa; daughter, Kelly (Tevaris) Haywood of Orlando; granddaughters, Ny’imah, Bella, and Amaya Haywood of Orlando; uncles, Jack (Ruth) Shiels of NJ, George (Gloria) Shiels of PA, John (Arlene) Owens of FL; aunt, Margaret Burns of FL; niece, Tamara Shiels of Germany; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael J. Shiels, Sr.; step-father, Virgil Lawson; and his grandparents. Mike was a beloved son, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed deeply. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 20th, 2013 at 3:00pm at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society of Brevard County in Michael’s memory.
