Mildred J. Bagg, known as Micky by her friends, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 9:28 in the evening. Micky was born in DeKalb, IL on July 6, 1916 to parents John T. James and Irene Whitford James. She had one younger brother, John. Micky graduated from Hinckley Community High School in Hickley, IL in June 1934. She had a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Northern Illinois State Teachers College (later Northern Illinois University) in DeKalb, IL. Micky married John Lucian Bagg in Paxton, IL on October 27, 1939. They never had children. Through the years, Micky has worked a variety of jobs, usually of a secretarial or accounting nature. Some of the places she worked are: the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City (~ 1946), the Tallahassee Phone Company (~1950), the State of Florida (~1958), Brevard County Schools (~1962), Phil Wentworth, Inc. (~1971), First Baptist Church Indialantic, FL Financial Secretary (~197?-199?), Florida Solar Energy Center (1975-1990). Micky frequently volunteered her time and talents. Micky lived at the Park Drive Apartments in Indian Harbour Beach from 1977 to 2009. She enjoyed going to church at First Baptist Indialantic and also loved attending Seniors at Lunch, and usually was found washing dishes to help out afterward. Micky was generous to everyone she came across. She had a terrific sense of humor, saying to those she met, “I’m the Bagg lady, but with two “G’s”. In 2009, Micky moved to Southland Suites of Melbourne. The most remarkable thing about Micky was how she exemplified JOY. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone. Micky said, “I always felt I belonged to Jesus and He belonged to me.” Micky was convinced that the Lord wants us to be happy. Though she outlived all of her family, God gave Micky family in the folks at First Baptist Indialantic. Micky’s favorite hymn was, “God Will Take Care of You”. Everyone who knew Micky loved her. She brightened everyone’s day. We will all miss her, but we know she is in heaven, rejoicing with Jesus. Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Indialantic on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. There will be visitation at 3:00pm, and the Homegoing Celebration at 4:00pm. Graveside Service will take place at Florida Memorial Gardens Thursday, November 4 at 9:00am. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Micky’s favorite charitable organizations, WCIF 106.3FM or First Baptist Church of Indialantic.
