She was born Norma Mae Groseclose, September 26, 1925, in Boissevain, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell C. Bennett, and Grandson Jason M. Bennett, and is survived by her sons, Russell C. Bennett, Jr.(Barbara), of Walnut Grove, Georgia, Roger C. Bennett (Laurali) of Merritt Island, and Daughter Cheryl Filippini, also of Merritt Island. Six grandchildren; Melonie Brown, Joy Brown, Nancy Bennett, Cort Nolan, Melissa Paulik, and Krista Bennett-Steele. Two great grandchildren; Sophie Nolan and Bennett Paulik.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, and, an active and long-time member of the Order of Eastern Star Cocoa Chapter 35 and Canaveral Chapter 297, as well as Lady’s Oriental Shrine, Hadji Court 88.
Before retiring, she was an Avon representative, and worked at the Brevard Achievement Center in Rockledge. During WW II she operated a lathe in Norfolk, Va, making screws for military aircraft. While working in Norfolk, she met her husband, “Rusty” Bennett.
Services will be held Friday, March 16, at the
Life Event Center of Florida Memorial Gardens,
5950 South US Hwy #1,
Rockledge, FL 32955.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to either Order of Eastern Star, Cocoa Chapter 35, L.O.S. Hadgi Court 88, or Grace United Methodist Church Merritt Island.
