Opal Lee Tinsley was 80 years old when she passed away peacefully at home in Cocoa, FL on Monday morning, December 9, 2019. She was born on September 4, 1939 in Pineville, KY. Opal left Kentucky and came to Brevard County in October 1960 with her husband Jesse Arthur Tinsley. Here she spent the early years raising her son Donald Ray and daughter Donna Sue. Later in life she worked in real estate but is most celebrated for her devotion to child care. Opal was the owner of Hope Learning Center in Sharpes, FL. Many wonderful years were spent educating and caring for children from December 1998 until it closed in May 2012. She was compassionate to all of the people she met and will be remembered fondly by those in the community. Opal was the most kind and gentle woman that had an endearing way about her that made everyone feel loved.
Opal was the oldest daughter of ten children born to Lee Mack North and Mary Calvin Lawson. There was always a close bond with her siblings. Throughout her time on Earth, Opal shared a genuine love for all of her family and provided an abundance of protection and support to each of them. Opal’s children Don and Donna were so very blessed to have her as their mom. There are no words adequate to describe the love they both have for her and how deeply she will be missed. I can only imagine what it will be like when I can walk by her side again in the face of the Lord.
Opal Lee Tinsley was preceded in death by Lee Mack North (father), Mary Calvin North (mother), Jesse Tinsley (husband), Sherman North (brother), Finley North (brother), Joshua Anson (grandson), and her sweet yorkie Max.
