John treasured his 38-year career as a mechanical design engineer with GM, where his job was to find weaknesses in a product and redesign it to be better. During his early career with GM, he proudly served in the US Navy Reserves as a Seabee during the Korean War. In 1956 John married the love of his life Carol Thompson and together they successfully raised five children. In 1990 he retired from GM and with two partners launched TEAM Resources, Inc. to provide engineering services and resources to major auto manufacturers. John was a member of Fisher Body Tech Center (FBTC) Retirees Club. In 1993 John and Carol fully retired and moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida from Clinton Township, Michigan, where he thoroughly enjoyed surf fishing, day-trips with Carol exploring Florida, and delighted in the close-up views of space shuttle and rocket launches. Over the years the family continued to grow and as of 2018, John and Carol delight in the company of 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Carol M. (Thompson) Langmesser, his children Veronica (Lou) Polite, Eugene (Fatima) Langmesser, Sandra (Richard) Moore, Walter (Alisa) Langmesser, Michelle (Craig) Forney
