Richard “Richie” Matarazzo 54, an Auto Parts Manager of Melbourne, Florida passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019 at home. He was born in East Hanover, NJ and moved to Melbourne, Florida in 1978 with his family. Survivors include his daughter; Samantha of Melbourne, mother; Pat of Melbourne, sisters; Trish and Dianne (Chip) Wiebe, and brothers; Carmine (Terri), and Danny (Janet), all of Melbourne, nieces and nephews; Carmine (Taylor), Ryan, Michelle (Bryce), Devin and Sunnie and great nephews; Carmine and Carson along with aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Richie was predeceased in death by his father Carmine. Richie graduated from Eau Gallie High School in 1983 and attended Brevard Community College. After working the restaurant industry during high school in 1983 his father opened Sonny’s Auto Supply, Inc. and Richie went to work there as a counterman. He continued running Sonny’s Auto Supply with his brother Carmine until they sold the business to NAPA in 2016 and remained working in the business. In 1998 he welcomed his only daughter Samantha, whom he treasured. He was a devoted father to Sam enjoying her hobbies and spending time with her as she was his everything. He loved sharing stories of Sam and you could always see the love he had for her in that huge smile. Richie was friends with everyone, never meeting a stranger and was known for always helping others. Those who knew him well knew him as Pear (Pearhead) a nickname he acquired in high school that stuck with him to this day. Richie had many hobbies over the years, enjoying team sports in school, water skiing, country music and even hunting for a time. He loved his sports and was an avid NASCAR fan, loved college football and especially the Gators, enjoyed the Bucs in the good and bad days and cheered on the Boston Red Sox since childhood. He equally enjoyed razzing his friends who rooted for the opposing teams. Beyond the playing field, family was everything to him, living next door to his brother Carmine and on the same street as his sisters, Trish, Dianne and families. He continually was there for his family, with his weekly trips taking his mother to visit his father at the cemetery, manning the grill for the annual Christmas fish dinner, grilling the lobster and at Thanksgiving making his famous stuffing balls. He cherished family time, joining his many friends at Beef’s and the local restaurants, where he turned servers into friends and always enjoyed making people laugh. Richie was one of a kind and enjoyed each day to the fullest and will be missed by everyone but never forgotten. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 9-11am at the Faith Viera Lutheran Church, 5550 Faith Drive, Rockledge, FL 32955. A service will be at 11am at the church with interment to follow in Florida Memorial Gardens. After interment, friends are kindly invited to F.O.P. Dearest Aunt Pat, Tricia, Carmine, Terri, Danny & Diane. Where to start? First, I would like to say that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Richie left way too soon, but God called him home for a reason. He is with Uncle Sonny looking down on each and every one of you. I found a penny yesterday, and I have no doubt it was from heaven. I will always have such a special place in my heart for Richie, and the funny, crazy, selfless person he was. We had so many laughs so many tears ago. I will always cherish the home cooked meals and nascar and football games at the house. Also, the countless bocci tournaments out back! Those were some of the best times of my life! Every time I think of them, Richie comes to my mind. I will always see a smiling, funny, comedian in my head, and I am so very blessed for God giving me the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing family. I cannot be there today to celebrate Richie's life with you all, but I will come by the house to see each and every one of you. I love you all, and may God comfort you all today and every day after.

Richie
I can not believe your gone. Words can not describe my sadness, but then I remember the good times. Working at the Blue Claw restaurant together. The time when we released a crate of live blue crabs next to your work station unbeknownst to you., must of had 2 dozen of them hanging off your apron and you never flinched to keep joke going crew rolling on floor laughing
You holding court at the raw bar while shucking oysters engaging everyone especially the ladies. My moms car invariably breaking down when I was overseas and I would tell her to take it to Sonny’s and see Pear.
You would get her back on the road no questions. Your personality was one of a kind, you were a great man and I will miss you terribly. My deepest and most sincere condolences to the Matarazzo family

RIP brother.

I am at a loss of words. We have all losses an amazing man from our lives. You were a wonderful father, sibling, son, Uncle, parent partner, God-father, best friend, and friend to so many, that the hole in our hearts will remain forever. My children are struggling, but I have to tell them your not far away.....that your now going to be an AMAZING guardian angel for them and Sam. You will be here with them each and every day watching over them just as you did while on Earth, it will just be a little different. Then it hit me while driving to work and my “tire needs air” light came on. I pulled into a gas station and reached for my phone to call you and I realized it’s going to be so so different and broke down in tears. You were loved, we all love you, You put joy in our lives with your smile and laughter. You protected us in our times of need, you stood by us in our weakest moments, you were one of the best that God created.....and you will always continue to be one of the best still watching over us, protecting us, loving us from a beautiful and peaceful place. Fly high Uncle Richie, you will be with us forever!

Richie,
Never had I met such a great guy.You always were there as a friend.Working for You and Carmine I considered a gift. You going to lunch with your Mom every Sunday showed just the person you were.I know Sam knows how lucky she is to have had You as her Dad.I use to tease You about living in your 3 mile radius but I wish I was that smart. You will always be remembered. You and Carmine truly showed what caring and family really mean.Friends always.
(maybe You can put in a word for Your Gators and Bucs)Love Ya Buddy, BEAU

Richie,
I’ll never the first time we hung out with Gary, Tim, Tim, and Fred (there might have been alcohol involved). It didn’t matter if we were taking the white van to help out a friend or just making another beer run, you always made wherever we were, a better place to be. With your smile, warm laughter, and great sense of humor there was never a dull moment ! Miss you buddy 😢 Pls give my mother, sister, and niece a Big Hug for me and save a place at the bar for when we meet again 😁
