Robert (Bob) Silas Dykes, was born on January 4, 1932 in Marion, OH, to Bessie Love Harrison Dykes and James Wrightly Dykes. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Melbourne, FL, on Sunday, November 11, 2018.
He was the second oldest of ten children. He graduated from Claridon High School in 1950 and joined the United States Navy. After two years he transferred to the United States Air Force. He retired as a Master Sargent in May 1975. He went on to work for K-Mart Corporation, retiring in the late 90’s as a Regional Loss Prevention Manager. Unable to stay retired for long, he began working at Fountainhead Funeral Home and Florida Memorial Gardens. An on the job auto accident forced him into permanent retirement.
He was a tireless servant of the Lord and served for many years as a Deacon and a song leader in the Churches of Christ in Satellite Beach and Eau Gallie, FL.
Bob had an infectious laugh and mischievous sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always up for a night of singing or a game of Mexican Dominoes.
He was predeceased by one daughter, but is survived by his wife, Elaine: 8 children, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed terribly.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL.
