

Master Sergeant Robert “Bob” L. Ruth, 87, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on March 7,2026. He was born to Robert Franklin Ruth and Dovie (Gray) Ruth on October 13, 1938, in Bradley, Arkansas. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 23 years. While serving his tour in Vietnam, during the Tet Offensive, he distinguished himself by receiving several commendations, including the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. These honors reflect his courage, dedication, and the sacrifices he made while serving his country.
Bob continued his commitment to public service by working for the Palm Bay Police Department in Florida for 17 years where he served as the Union President. He lived a life defined by integrity, hard work, and devotion to his family and community. He was known for his strong sense of duty, patriotism, and pride in his service to the country. He enjoyed bible studies, genealogy, hunting and fishing. He was a member and served as a past president of the Patrick Bass Anglers.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Peggy (Stephens); his father, Robert F. Ruth; his mother, Dovie (Gray); his son, Eddie; his brothers, Charlie George and Jim; and his sisters, Eualdene and Norine (CooCoo).
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Garza (Juan) of Mesa, Arizona, Brenda Smith (Mark) of Dubach, Louisiana, and Kathy Parsons (Curtis) of Melbourne, Florida; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Florida, where he will be interred next to his “best girl” Peggy. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate his life and legacy. Reception to follow at his residence.
