Robert Newton Saye, Jr.

Colonel (retired) Robert N. Saye Jr., passed away in Palm Bay, Florida on January 6, 2019, at the age of 91. He was born in Athens, Georgia, and was a graduate from the University of Georgia.

Saye’s service spanned three wars; World War II, the Korean War and the War in Vietnam. Most of his career was spent in Strategic Air Command flying the B-29, B-47 and B-52 heavy bombers. He held command and staff positions at wing level, at numbered Air Force headquarters and at SAC headquarters. His final overseas tour was as Chief of B-52 operations on the staff of the Commander U.S. Forces in Vietnam.

He was an avid golfer, enjoyed travel and crossword puzzles, and was a loyal Georgia Bulldawg.

Col. Saye is survived by and will be truly missed by his wife of 70 years, Aloha; sons, Geri (Barb) Saye and Robert (Bo) N. Saye, III; daughters, Patti Wells (Doug), Debbi Dewey (Mark), and Sherri (Russ) Minnocci; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Randi Saye.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL on January 11, 2019, at 3:00pm.
