Roberto Mauricio Jarrin Tamayo, 60, originally from Ecuador and most recently a resident of Indialantic, Florida, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Roberto leaves behind a legacy defined by faith, perseverance, mentorship, and a life lived across cultures and continents.
Roberto met his beloved wife, Elena Beatriz, while studying at Florida Tech, and years later they returned, grateful to once again call the place where their journey began home.
A devoted Catholic, Roberto believed deeply that with faith in God, love for family, and hard work, all things were possible. Over a remarkable international career spanning more than 35 years, he worked with multinational companies across nine countries and three continents. He was a man of action, effort, and vision. He achieved through perseverance and carried a constant hope that things could always be better. He often began his days with the words, “Hoy va a ser un buen día.” He did not dwell on difficulties but chose to move forward with optimism, focusing on solutions and the future. Known for his ability to manage crises with calm and clarity, he believed that staying present and taking the next step was the way through any challenge. To many, he was a mentor who guided with wisdom, generosity, and encouragement.
In August, Roberto began a new chapter in education, joining Melbourne Central Catholic as a teacher — a role he quickly came to love. Sharing his knowledge and life experience with students brought him great joy, and he found purpose in helping young people grow and discover their paths.
Roberto was a man of tradition, laughter, and strong presence. While his way of loving was often quiet and expressed through planning, providing, and acts of service, his devotion to his family never wavered. He pushed those he loved to strive for excellence, to build better lives, and to create strong futures for their own children. In the later years of his life, he embraced change and chose to be more present, cherishing time with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. These simple, shared moments became his greatest joy.
Above all, Roberto wished to be remembered as a husband, father, and grandfather. He found his greatest pride in the growth, resilience, and achievements of his family, and in walking through life “del brazo con su mamá,” side by side with his beloved wife.
Roberto was preceded in death by his parents, Gustavo Jarrin Ampudia and Gladys Tamayo de Jarrin. He is lovingly remembered by his wife and life companion, Elena Beatriz Arrivillaga Monteros; his daughters Ana Maria and her husband, Andoni; Maria Gabriela and her husband, Ricardo; Isabel; and Monica; and his beloved grandchildren Elene, Maia, Valentina, and Ricardo Mateo. He is also survived by his sister, Maria Andrea, and her husband, Esteban, and their daughters, Sofia and Emma; his brothers and their families; as well as many extended family members and dear friends whose lives he touched.
Those who knew Roberto will remember his integrity, humor, strength, and constant desire to grow and do better. He reminded those around him to look ahead with hope, value time, and move forward with courage.
May the Lord welcome him into His eternal peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him. In faith and hope, we entrust Roberto to God’s loving embrace.
Funeral Mass details will be shared with family and friends.
