

Rodney Alvin Richmond, 81, of Melbourne, FL passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Holmes Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the Faith Fellowship Church of Melbourne and the Brunswick Bowling Center Seniors League.
Born in Judson, WV, Rodney came to Brevard County in 1987 from Vienna, VA. He was a veteran of the US Army having served proudly during World War II. Rodney spent 37 years at the Defense Mapping Agency in Washington, DC, supporting both the US military and Space Programs. His favorite past times after retirement were woodworking and making many cherished items for his family. He loved bowling and going to watch his grandchildren in their sporting events. Rodney was a proud man who adored his wife, children and grandkids and loved is country.
Survivors include wife, Arlis C. Richmond; brother, Ebbie (Nancy) Richmond; sisters, Ruth Stafford, Roberta Meador; children, Kenneth (Dena) Richmond, Frank (Sandie) Richmond, Patty (David) Ottenstein; grandchildren, Cori and Jared Ottenstien, Alex and Katelyn Richmond and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 10-11 a.m. at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL. Funeral will start at 11am with burial to follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family politely requests that donations be made in memory of Rodney Richmond either to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA, 22312; or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123-1718.
