

Roger Marc Stilwell, 96, went home to be with the Lord, August 23, 2017, in Conroe, Texas. He was born November 20th, 1920 to George and Willa (Miller) Stilwell in Van Buren County, Iowa, the oldest of five children.
Roger honorably served in both the Coast Guard and the Navy in WWII from August of 1939 through November of 1945. After the war, he met his beautiful bride, Frances Floyd, married in 1951, and then made Merritt Island their permanent home.
He was a strong spiritual leader for his family, a beloved husband, father and a very active member of First Baptist Church, Merritt Island for decades.
The Stilwell’s first visited Merritt Island, Florida, on their honeymoon. After serving much of WWII in cold Iceland and the North Atlantic, Roger immediately applied for a transfer from Washington DC to the newly established Patrick Air Force Base where the average temperature is 72.2 degrees Fahrenheit. After retiring from civil service in 1972, Roger and Frances traveled extensively and lived in North Georgia and Texas.
Roger was predeceased by his beloved wife, Frances (Floyd) Stilwell in 2016. He is survived by his sister, Virginia (Stilwell) Thorne of Melbourne, Florida; three sons, Floyd Stilwell of Cape Canaveral, Florida, Scott and Lucille Stilwell of Merritt Island, Florida, and Eric and Bobbie Stilwell of Lovelady, Texas; five grandchildren, Jonathan Stilwell, Savannah Stilwell, Mark Stilwell, Caleb Stilwell and Sara Stilwell.
Memorial services for Roger Stilwell will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Merritt Island, Florida, at 10:00 am with Pastor Bob Rowell officiating.
