Rockledge, FL, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026 at the age of 88.
Born in the Bronx, NY, on March 28, 1938, Ronald was the beloved son of the late Alois and Walburga (née Sonnleitner) Elsasser. He was a proud graduate of Power Memorial High School in Manhattan, Class of 1956. Following high school, Ronald enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, honorably serving his country as a Lance Corporal aboard the USS Ticonderoga.
On October 17, 1959, Ronald married the love of his life, Virginia Ann (née Dowling) Elsasser, beginning a devoted union of over six decades.
Ronald dedicated 29 years of distinguished service to the Greenburgh Police Department, retiring as a highly decorated detective. A passionate golfer and avid traveler who explored the country, he also remained actively connected to his public safety roots as a member of the Rockledge, FL 1013 Club for retired first responders.
In addition to his cherished wife, Virginia, Ronald is survived by his
loving sons, Robert (Elizabeth) Elsasser and Richard (Christine)
Elsasser; his adoring grandchildren, Katherine (Michael) Cieri, Ryan
(Caitlin), Christopher (Ashley), Olivia (Joshua); and Savannah
(Cyrroni) Elsasser; and 8 cherished great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation
on 9/23/2026 (1:30pm) followed by a mass (2:00pm) at Saint John The Evangelist (Catholic Community) at 5655 Stadium Parkway Viera, FL 32940. Interment will follow on 9/24/2026 (11:00am) at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery located at 5525 U.S. Highway 1 North Mims, FL 327564.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ronald’s honor may be
made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA).
