Mosely. He was born in Kinston, NC on May 31, 1947.
Ronald “Pookie/Duke” attended J.H. Sampson Elementary School and graduated
from Adkin High School where he played on the football team.
Ronald earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in social work at Livingstone College in
Salisbury, NC . He also played football there and was good enough to try out for the New York Giants when he sustained an injury.
Ronald earned a Master’s in social work at Fordham University in New York City.
Ronald settled in New York City and stayed with his sister, Mirian, and her family
for a few years. He and his brother-in-law, Johnnie, had a special relationship
with special names for each other-Ronald was ‘Curtin”.
Ronald worked as a social worker at Knickerbocker Hospital in Manhattan until
it closed. He then became an employee at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn,NY.
He retired from there after about 20 years.
It was at Interfaith that he met, fell in love with and married Judy Marks.They were
married for 45 years and had two children, Christine and Michael. When asked
to write a sentence during a medical exam, he wrote “I love my wife”.
Ronald and his family relocated from Brooklyn to Melbourne , FL. He worked for the Brevard County Parks and Recreation Department until failing health forced his retirement.
During his extended illness he was blessed to remain at home under the care of
his wife, Judy, and children.
Ronald was a gentle, even-tempered, “southern gentleman” , friendly person. He
loved sports, wrote poetry (complicated), traveled and was an avid participant
in a local “Book Club”. He was happy when outdoors in the sunshine.
Left to cherish his memory are- his devoted wife, Judy; daughter, Christine Morine;
son, Michael Morine; grandson, Jadore; granddaughter, Aliyah; sister, Mirian Moses,
(NY); sister-in-law, Joan Marks (NY); nieces, Adrianne M. Ridley (VA) and Fiona
Marks (NY); nephews, Nicholas G. Moses (NY) and Matthew Marks (NY); grand
nieces and nephews ; cousins and friends.
A visitation for Ronald will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Life Event Center At Florida Memorial, 5950 S US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 S US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955.
