An extraordinary woman, exemplary mother, and, above all, a lady, well respected and admired by all who knew her, Ruby Grace Graham was born, May 22, 1924, in Fayetteville, AL. Ruby passed away September 6, 2011.
She married Frank Alton Graham, an Air Force Officer, in 1944, and began an adventurous life filled with excitement and travel to exotic places all over the world. Frank fought in World War II and Korea and was assigned to the only Atom Bomb Squadron in the world.
From a clerk at Elmore's 5 & Dime in 1943, Ruby went on to secure a position with Douglas Aircraft Corp in support of the Delta and Saturn Projects at CCAFS during the 1960's.
After Frank's death, Ruby volunteered at Cape Canaveral Hospital for 18 years and has shared the last 25 years of her life with Lt. Col. James A. Nelson, a friend of the family since 1954.
She is survived by James; her three children, Victoria (Jerry) Rogers, Katherine (Don) Argo and Mark (Nicole) Graham; grandchildren, April (Rogers) Crawford, Sean and Shaara Argo, Shayne and Nicholas Graham.
She set a great example for us all with her strength of character, dignity and integrity, as well as her gentle loving kindness, and was the vital thread that bound our family. We were always proud to call her our mother and will miss her eternally.
