Sandra Robinson

Sandra Lipscomb Robinson was born in Shelby, North Carolina on May 16, 1939, and passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the age of 85 in Melbourne, Florida. Along with her parents and sister, the family moved from North Carolina to Melbourne in 1954. While singing in the Youth Choir at the First Baptist Church of Melbourne, she met a serviceman, Jack Robinson, and they married in February 1957.

Jack and Sandra moved to Auburn, Alabama for Jack to attend Auburn University, and their lifelong love for Auburn sports began. Vicki and John were born in Auburn before Jack graduated from Auburn in 1961. Jack started his career in Orlando, Florida where Keith was born. Sandra’s love for her husband and her children was unparalleled. The family moved back to Melbourne in 1963 and rejoined First Baptist Church of Melbourne where Sandra was a member for over 60 years.

She typed badges for registration at Auburn, and then worked at a dime store. Sandra taught at the church pre-school while all three children were preschoolers. She was a home maker and then worked as a grocery cashier; she loved interacting with so many people. Sandra was a Ministry Assistant for church pastors for many years, and later a Chiropractic receptionist.

She loved music and played the piano; she enjoyed singing in the church choir and playing handbells. Sandra always placed the needs of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, plus extended family and friends, above her own needs. Sandra was incredibly accepting of everyone she met, never critical or judgmental. Sandra loved animals and chances to feed them; a favorite memory of her grandchildren is feeding the ducks with her in Melbourne.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents, William G. & Ailene Lipscomb, husband Jack P. Robinson, and sister Freda Holcombe. Sandra is survived by her daughter Vicki Lavendol (Jeff), sons John (Teri), and Keith (Gayle); grandchildren Cara Walls (Ray), Jena Edoho (Inyang), Aubree Petit (Brendan), Tucker (Amelia), and Grace; and great-grandchildren Ethan and Rebecca Walls.

The visitation gathering will be Friday, June 7, 2024 from 10-11 am and the Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 am, both at First Baptist Melbourne located at 3301 Dairy Road, Melbourne, Florida 32904. At 2 pm, a graveside Celebration of Life will be held at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955.
