Born in Santiago, Chile, in 1948, Sara was adopted by her aunt Raquel and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and later in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the mid-1960s, Sara arrived in the United States, settling in Irvington, New Jersey. Soon after, Sara graduated from Wilfred’s Beauty Academy in Newark, NJ, and began her career in cosmetology. It was also during that time that Sara met Julio Aponte and began their lives together. Subsequently, Sara began working for Organon, a pharmaceutical company located in West Orange, NJ. After 16 years at Organon, Sara and Julio relocated from Orange, NJ, to Florida, where they purchased their only home in Palm Bay. Sara resumed her career in cosmetology until her retirement in 2013.
Widowed in 2010, Sara continued to live independently and enjoyed various crafts, including knitting, crochet, and needlepoint. Sara spent many hours gardening and redecorating her beloved home. Sara also enjoyed music, dancing, writing, movies, and the company of her furry companions Chiquita and Babe.
Friends and family will be received at Florida Memorial Memorial Park and Cremation Gardens, located at 5950 S. U.S. Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955.
