Sylvia Bernice Adair, went home to be with Jesus forever in Tampa Bay, Florida on July 12, 2023 at the age of 66. She passed after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her children and husband.
Sylvia was a proud mother and loved her children with everything she had, she leaves behind her three children; Hannah Marie Adair, Jonathan David Adair, and Danielle Aimee Adair. Sylvia was the best thing that ever happened to her husband, John Douglas Adair. They were married for 31 years. She is also survived by her brother; Fred R. Soldano, who loved her and truly misses her, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; Matthew J. Soldano and Diane L. Soldano.
Sylvia was a multi-faceted and accomplished woman. Born on February 11, 1957, growing up in Rockville, Maryland and the Washington D.C. area. She relocated to Texas as a young adult and became a member of the Agape Force, a youth outreach missions group. She later moved to Austin, Texas and completed her LVN and Associate Degree as a Registered Nurse through Austin Community College. It was in Austin where she met her husband through prayer ministry at their local church. She used her gift of nursing and caring for people in various hospital departments in the Austin and Kansas City area, including head injury rehab, home health care, and hospice and palliative care divisions. She was also a very involved community and staff member at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City. She served on the Community Care pastoral team, praying for those with health issues, those who were grieving, and those having financial struggles. She loved to spend hours worshipping and praying in the 24/7 Prayer room. She was also a leader for the prayer teams for healing.
She had a great love for her family and friends. Whenever her children went out the door to school or activities, she would always say, “I Love you, I’m proud of you, Have a good day.” She was a woman who loved music, she was a skilled guitar player and vocalist. She encouraged her children to pursue their musical gifts as well. Sylvia could be found with a good book, preferably on the beach, and generally enjoying the beauty of nature on a regular basis. Her curiosity and desire to explore new places, live new experiences, and appreciate the simple beauty of things were admirable traits that we can hope to honor her memory by living our lives with more of her values and perspective in mind.
Her family and friends cherish the wonderful times we had together. We invite you to join us in honoring her and celebrating her life during the visitation on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, Florida, with the funeral service following promptly at 11:00 AM.
