Born on September, 9, 1945 in Gainesville, FL, Tannis lived a life that was uniquely her own—one marked by both joy and hardship, strength and vulnerability, triumphs and struggles. Like all of us, she was imperfect. Like all of us, she was deeply human.
She was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life became woven into the stories of generations that followed. Family relationships, like life itself, were not always simple. There were seasons of closeness and seasons of distance, moments of understanding and moments of hurt. Yet through it all, the threads of family remained.
Love does not require a perfect history. It simply remains, even after the story has become complicated.
Today, we choose not to define Tannis by any single chapter of her life, but by the entirety of it. We remember the good moments, the laughter shared, the lessons learned, the traditions passed down, and the ways she helped shape the lives of those who came after her.
She leaves behind her children, Sabra, Saretta & Sholon; her grandchildren, Jason, Jamie, Olivia, Amanda and Heather; her great-grandchildren, Purely, Lacey, Rosalee, Grayson, Oakley, Holden, Asher, Tessa and Kayden; as well as others whose lives were touched by her presence.
As we say goodbye, we do so with grace. We carry both the beauty and the complexity of our memories. We acknowledge the places where life was difficult while holding space for the love that endured. In the end, family stories are rarely perfect, but they are ours. And Tannis will always be part of ours.
May she rest in peace, and may those who mourn her find comfort in the knowledge that every life leaves an imprint, every story matters, and every soul is known by God.
