October 14, 1948 - January 28, 2026
Thomas Frederic “Tom” Baugher, 77, of Cocoa Beach, Florida, passed peacefully in his sleep during the night at home on January 28, 2026.
Tom was born on October 14, 1948, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to Katherine Katilus, and Wilfred Baugher. He spent his early childhood on a farm with his grandparents, where he learned the value of hard work, independence, and curiosity. Those formative years were filled with time outdoors, trapping furs, and growing up alongside his four siblings – memories that shaped the resilient and adventurous man he would become.
In the 1960s, the Baugher family relocated to Cocoa Beach, Florida, when Tom’s father, Wilfred, was hired by the Martin Marietta Company and reported to work at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on the Titan I Intercontinental Ballistic Missile program. It was there that Tom truly found his calling. He became an avid surfer and fisherman, spending countless hours on the water, exploring the coastline, and embracing the ocean as a way of life.
Tom had a natural eye for architectural design and later became a builder, working closely with his brother Bob. Together, they helped shape much of the local landscape, building numerous condominiums and hotels throughout the Cocoa Beach area – leaving a lasting imprint on the community he loved.
Tom is survived by his four beloved daughters: Michelle (Dewan) of Hilton Head, South Carolina; Thea Baugher of Cocoa Beach, Florida; Dana Baugher of Cocoa Beach, Florida; and Megan Baugher of Cocoa Beach, Florida.
He is also survived by his siblings: Larry Baugher of Sunnyvale, California; Marge Humphries of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Robert Baugher of Cocoa Beach, Florida; and Mike Baugher of Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Tom is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cathy Eberhart of Cocoa Beach, Florida, and his cherished grandchildren: Caleb Dewan, Madeline Dewan, Bethany Dewan, Asher Uvaro, Stella Jarvis, Nova Jarvis, Stallard Eberhart, and baby Rusty Wolkenhauer.
Tom will be deeply missed for his charismatic personality, strong determination, adventurous spirit, and deep love for all cultures of this world – and the universe beyond. His stories, laughter, and presence will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
