Tom was born in Washington, D.C. and enlisted in the US Air Force, following graduation. He served in Vietnam and retired as a Master Sergeant after nearly 23 years of service. Following military service, he worked in the DC area as a mechanic for the metro rail system and Goddard Space Flight Center. He eventually relocated to Florida and retired from Northrop Grumman. He was as a proud member and supporter of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he held several posts, including service officer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Irene Sullivan, brother Frank, sisters Marion, Grace and Irene, and wife Joanna of 34 years. He is survived by three sons, Michael Sullivan of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Timothy (Tiffany) Sullivan of Herndon, VA, and Allen (Lori) Sullivan of Hamilton, VA, two stepchildren, Kimberly (Joe) Marsh of Melbourne, FL, and Steven (Cathy) Watts of Mannington, WV, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private service for family will be held at a later date.
