Toluwani "Tom" was a Dean’s list senior at Florida State University where he was earning a double major in creative writing and psychology. Due to his sudden passing, he has been awarded a Florida State University memorial degree. Tom was employed by the university as a student consultant, liaising between faculty and students to assist in learning strategies to ensure academic success in subject areas. He was also a member of FSU’s Pi Kappa Alpha. Tom’s foundational years included the achievement of regional finalist in the Scripps National Spelling Bee Championship, a black belt Taekwondo, and Congressional awards for his contribution to the arts and student government in high school.

Born on Christmas Day in 1997, Tom had an active faith and belief in Jesus Christ, which was reflected in his dedication to seek God first through morning devotions and the genuine interest he took in the spiritual lives of the people he cared about. Tom often prayed for the people he loved and had a hands-on approach in practising his faith through Bible Studies, serving the local community, and his church. Tom participated in Campus Crusade for Christ at FSU and was a well-known member of Downtown Community Church and Westwood Church in Tallahassee, Florida.

Tom had many interests and passions—composing music, nature photography, art, working out, and just having a good time eating and hanging out with friends, or enjoying online Xbox games. He lived life to the fullest. His creativity, kind heart, and friendliness will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Tom is survived by his father, Toks; mother, Cathy; younger brother, Rey; and younger sister, Oyinda; maternal grandmother and paternal grandfather, as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins in the Idowu and Iyamu families.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 2pm to 3pm at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial in Rockledge with a livestreamed funeral service beginning at 3pm.

My heart breaks at the hearing of the departure of a wonderful and promising young man Toluwani. As such Toluwani was such a gentle son and a breath of fresh air! To Toks and Cathy my dear brother and sister in Christ! I am deeply sorry for your lost and my wife and I extends our sympathy. Words cannot describe how I feel about your lost. But with teary eyes and my faith of the good God whom we serve, I know that He will shed light on all places of brokenness and emptiness of such answers that we may have concerning the lost of your son and my beloved nephew Toluwani.

Pls see the condolence msg below. You can amend as you deem appropriate.

To the Idowus’
Just found the strength to put out these few words of encouragement.....
The news of your son's death and subsequent burial which I watched on the video was the rudest shock of this season......
I have questioned God, why him ?at this age? Yet got no answers.....
As we submit to his perfect will, that he who has called him to eternal rest is faithful and still in perfect control, pls believe that no matter the strength of the wind, a river can never flow backwards. He will continue to move your family forward in the midst of the storms of life.
We, my parents, siblings and I, share in your grief. It is well in Jesus name. Amen. Georgina Okoro (Birmingham AL)

Tom, I will miss you terribly!!!! I just found out and I am in shambles. I was so honored to be your supervisor at FSU. I loved talking with you about your future goals and places you wanted to see. You told me it was all for your mom. She was your inspiration. I am so sad that you will not get to do the study abroad you so wanted to experience. You told me you had stories to tell through film. We talked so often while you arranged my books in my office. Always smiling, always happy! I was blessed to be a part of your circle! I won’t forget you!

A Christmas gift...on loan. I am so sorry for your earthly loss....and ours, too. A beautiful son..... now experiencing "In His Presence is fulness of joy, and at His right hand are pleasures forevermore". May our God of hope wrap His loving arms around you all....and gather your tears in His special Tom now worships with those gone before....and he awaits our entrance into the kingdom. Nothing can make our eyes look so heavenward as our loved ones earthly exit. Grace, mercy, peace and much love to you in Jesus. Shirley Wratten

Our hearts break, we grieve....deeply.
But for the Word of Truth, we would have despaired.
That hope...O that sure hope, guaranteed by the rising of One Man, the Son of Man!
Death no longer has the final word...O death, you are arrested. Where indeed is your sting?

"For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Him, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep" (1 Thess 4:14)

Sleep peacefully, dear Toluwani, and may the Great Comforter Himself, the Spirit of Truth, envelope Cathy, Toks, Reolu and Oyinda with the tender love of our Savior.

Much love,
Solomon, Ope, Christopher, Stephen and Olivia

Tom is like a son to me . He has made a great impact to his peers though it may look as his life is so short, Tom’s life and legacy lives on .
Tom we love you and your memory will continue to be with us. Though you are absent in body ,but you are alive in the spirit with Christ Jesus . That is where we all will be eventually.
We will see you again in glory.
Tom we love you!!!

Toluwani, you are truly missed and deeply loved.

Your life is a true testimony of God's love and word. You made sure to share your love of God wholeheartedly, for this and the other memories I have of you from beating me in chess when I stayed with you and your family for the holidays, to you sharing your passion for music when we saw last summer. I thank God for the time He allowed us to have with you so that you could add depth to all our lives.

My love always to Uncle Toks, Aunty Cathy, Reyolu and Oyinda. May your loving memories of Toluwani serve as a form of comfort.

Love Ninma, Yebo, 'Danbemi & Jummai.

To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.
(2 Corinthians 5:8).

Praying for Peace and comfort for all the family and may the best memories of Tom be kept alive in your hearts.
