Bill Davidson passed away peacefully at his Titusville home on February 23, surrounded by family. Born in Washington, DC in 1938, he moved to Florida in the 1970s. He is survived by his forever friend Fran Baer, her children and grandchildren; his nieces, Annette Gwensberg and Cynthia Lewis, nephews Michael and David Hall, and numerous great nieces and nephews and many friends
He was a passionate teacher, photographer, guitarist, sailboat builder/craftsman, vegetable gardener and animal welfare advocate.
He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and earned a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Virginia. He worked in urban planning in Fairfax County, Virginia, then moved to Florida to teach reading at Cocoa High School. Later, he worked as a realtor and instructor at Brevard Work Force Development and pursued several business ventures, including cabinet making and the design and marketing of his innovative urban gardening equipment.
His visits to Spain during the 1960s sparked a lifelong interest in flamenco and its associated history and culture. While residing in Morón de la Frontera and Madrid, he taught English and received instruction in flamenco guitar from the esteemed guitarist Diego de Gastor.
His documentary "Vista Flamencas," produced during his many visits to Spain with his friend Fran, was featured at the Chicago International Film Festival and serves as a significant record of his contributions to flamenco music and culture. His photographs have been included in historical literary works on flamenco music and cultural exhibits in Seville, Spain.
Bill's hospice care was compassionately provided by St. Francis Reflections, for which we are very grateful.
As we say goodbye to Bill, we hold on to the beautiful memories he left behind. His spirit will forever be a part of us, guiding us with the same love and kindness he so freely gave. Rest in peace, Bill, you will always be in our hearts.
