

Williams J. (Bill) Phillips, 69, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026 at his home in Melbourne, Florida with his wife and other family members by his side. Bill was born at Fort Campbell, KY, the son of James Bradford Phillips and Linda Adkins Phillips. He was preceded in death by his father James Bradford Phillips, his paternal grandparents, William Bradford Phillips and Lora Beatrice Jones Phillips, his maternal grandparents, Lonnie Adkins and Eva
Given Adkins.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Alana Ellis Phillips, daughter Alissa Nobblitt (Phillip), grandchildren Jackson Nobblitt and Stella Nobblitt, his mother, Linda Adkins Phillips, sister, Toni Bledsoe, nephew Andrew Bledsoe and niece Julianne Bledsoe. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bill was raised in Cross Lanes, WV and was a 1975 graduate of Nitro High School. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 625, Charleston, WV, and the National Chapter 602 in Washington, DC. Bill was employed by Honeywell and Sebesta Bloomberg and his top secret clearance took him throughout the United States and to several foreign countries.
While working in Washington, DC and checking safety systems during renovations in the Pentagon, Bill was present when an airplane struck the building. He was a proud survivor of
the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon.
Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church of Melbourne on September 25, 2026.
