Mr. Striffler was born on September 14, 1926 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania to William F. and Iva (Willoughby) Striffler. He moved to Melbourne in 1946. Bill was a heavy equipment operator for many years.
Bill loved the Lord and was a wonderful Christian witness to all those he loved and met. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Good Shepherd and attended First Baptist Church of Melbourne and Calvary Chapel. Mr. Striffler served willingly and selflessly in the United States Navy during WWII. He was seldom seen without wearing a hat that proudly displayed his love for his country.
Mr. Striffler is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 13 years, Jane Striffler, and five daughters Bobbie Stone (Ronnie), Joyce Striffler , Carol Sanders, Sandra Schwager (Ronnie), and Lisa Bye (Daniel); a sister Marge Kopp, 9 grandchildren, 10 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Mary Yirka Striffler, brothers Harry and Jack, and sister Lillian “Sis” Oliphant .
There will be a “Celebration of Life” at Church of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 810 Florida Avenue, Melbourne, FL 32901 on Wednesday, June 8 at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Leeza’s Place, 3661 S. Babcock Street, Church of the Good Shepherd or William Childs Hospice House, 381 Medplex Parkway, Palm Bay.
