Winston L. DeBord, 95 went to be with his Lord on June 10, 2018. He was born Aug. 16, 1922 in a small Southwestern town in Virginia. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific theater. In 1955 he moved his young family to Melbourne. He worked for PanAm at Patrick Air Force Base, and later Mr. DeBord worked at Harris Corp. where he retired in 1987. Upon arrival in Florida, he became a member of First Baptist Church of Melbourne, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and a deacon for many years, helping bring many souls to know his Lord and Savior. His faith and love of God were always first in his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Doris H. DeBord. He is survived by his wife, Betty and daughter Rebecca (Jerry) Kirchgessner of the Charlotte, NC area. Also surviving are step children, Diane Briggs of Melbourne and Louis Daryl Grant (Sharon) of Brandon, FL.
Those wishing to honor Mr. DeBord and share loving memories of his life are encouraged to attend a memorial service at First Baptist Church of Melbourne on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 1:00pm.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Vitas Hospice of Melbourne, who have served him and the family during his final months.
