Doris Belle Shullenbarger

Doris Belle (Dyer) Shullenbarger died Saturday, June 22, 2013, of natural causes in Frederick, Maryland. She was 87 years old.

She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Lydia (Emerick) and Arthur Dyer on May 23, 1926. Upon Lydia’s death from tuberculosis is 1928, Doris was raised by her aunt, Janet (Emerick) Gustin and her husband, Ray Gustin, Jr. In 1946, Doris married John Shullenbarger of Washington, DC. Throughout their 53 year marriage, they lived in Aspen Hill, Ashton, and Cambridge, Maryland. They moved to Sarasota, Florida, and lived there until Doris‘s move back to Maryland in 2012. John died in 2009.

She is survived by four children: Mark of Germantown, MD, Scott of Mount Airy, MD, Wendy of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Brett of Sarasota, Florida. She is also survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
