

Anne Margaret Varley Wiench, age 89, of Rogers, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, following a long bout with Parkinson's Disease. At the time of her death, her favorite hymn, The Prayer of St. Francis: “Make me a Channel of Your Peace,” was playing as she held hands with her youngest son, Patrick and his wife, Sally, of Rogers, AR
Anne, the daughter of Irish immigrants, was born in Jersey City , New Jersey on September 1st, 1921. The only one in her family to graduate from high school, Anne went on to aid the war effort by becoming one of Western Electric's youngest supervisors and managers. In 1945, Anne married Army Air Corps Captain Alcuin A. Wiench, who had been held prisoner in a German camp for 2.5 years. Alcuin died in 2001.
Family members include Anthony Wiench, Tracy, CA, and his daughters Kathryn and Camilla; William Wiench, Pocatello, ID; Donna Wiench and her husband Michael Wills of Beaverton, OR, and their children Benjamin and Kathleen Wills; Patrick Wiench and his wife Sally Wiench of Rogers, AR and their sons Alexander and Nicholas.
Anne was a faithful life-long Catholic and sang in several church and community choirs. She loved children and dogs and was a lively and funny storyteller who enjoyed a good laugh.
Her life will be celebrated during the Rite of Christian Burial at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at 10 am. Music will be led by her son, William.
Visitation will be 5 - 7 pm on Thursday, Jan 20, 2011, at Callison-Lough Funeral Home, Rogers. The Rosary will be prayed Thursday evening at 7:00 pm.
All who loved Anne are welcome to attend either event. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Anne to Hermit Sisters of Mary (marymount-hermitage.org) and NWA Circle of Life Hospice (nwacircleoflife.org) would be most welcome.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home in downtown Rogers.
