Austin Louis Miller

A 1954 graduate of Lincoln High School. He began a career in the military. He served in the US Navy on the USS Roanoke from 1954-1958. He then enlisted in the US Air Force and served from 1958-1974. He is a Viet Nam Veteran having served in 1967-1968. After serving in the military he returned to Vincennes and graduated from the Building Trades Program. He then traveled to Waterloo, Iowa and worked as Plant Superintendent for Rock Island Millwork for 20 years.

He married Jane Rodrick March 6, 1976. They spent 44 years together and shared many great travels together. They retired to Bella Vista in 1995 and have made it their home. During his retirement he has served as a DAV driver for 8 years. He served many years with the Gideon’s local association.

Austin is survived by his wife and his children, Cheryl (Bill) Atkinson, Beverly Miller (Henry), Stan Miller and his step-children Hank (Ivana) Rodrick, Gary Rodrick, Rhonda (Wayne) Weigand, Karen Dover and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Austin was proceeded in death by his parents and only brother Ronald Miller.

Services will be held at 3:00pm in the Church of the Nazarene in Hiwasse and officiated by his Pastor and close friend Larry Weihe. Interment with Military Honors will be Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Vincennes, Indiana.
