Beverly was born on December 26, 1950, in Tokyo, Japan, to George and Phyllis Pate. She spent her childhood traveling and living in various countries around the world. Growing up in a military family gave her a unique perspective on life, exposing her to different cultures, traditions, and experiences that she cherished throughout her life.
She attended Hot Springs High School and graduated in 1968. Following her education, she pursued a career in the medical field.
On August 21, 1970, Beverly married Gary Harp, and together they shared 56 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, traditions, and memories that will continue to bless their family for generations. Their marriage stood as a testament to commitment, faithfulness, and enduring love through every season of life.
Beverly’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud Mimi whose love knew no bounds. She created countless cherished traditions that became the foundation of family celebrations. Those traditions continue today through her daughter, Amy, and grandson, Logan, serving as a lasting reminder of the love, joy, and togetherness she brought to every occasion.
Beverly and Gary shared a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, visiting casinos, and spending evenings playing backgammon together. Beverly was an avid scrapbooker who carefully preserved memories from their travels, collecting menus and keepsakes from restaurants and cities they visited along the way.
Above all, she loved fiercely and wholeheartedly. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the traditions she created, and the memories she so lovingly preserved. After 56 years of marriage, Gary recently reflected on their life together and said he had “absolutely no regrets.” Their enduring marriage stands as a testament to devotion, partnership, and a love that will continue to inspire generations to come.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, George and Phyllis Pate, and her sister, Kay Ollar.
She leaves behind a family who adored her, including her husband and best friend of 56 years, Gary Harp; her daughter, Amy Long; her cherished grandson, Logan Long; and many beloved relatives and friends who will forever treasure the memories, traditions, and love she shared so generously.
A private celebration of Beverly’s life will be held by her family, where they will gather to share stories, honor her legacy, and celebrate the traditions and memories she so lovingly created. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
