Carl Tapp hired this 20 year old kid in 1980 at Rollins Truck Leasing, Houston. He let a few of us mechanics stay at his home while we worked there. Fresh out of Ohio Diesel Technical Institute and brand new to Houston, Carl really helped me get some direction to my life. I didn't stay long, maybe 6 months or so, but he so deeply impacted me here I am 40 years later looking for the man who helped start my career.  Never forgotten.  Rest easy Carl, thank you!

Carl was fine man and a caring and generous friend to many, especially my parents, Ruth and Henry Menke. His attitude during the years of physical disability was inspirational. He never lost his love of country; a true patriot. May he rest in peace!

Carl was a good friend, who I got to know over my years of being in the transportation industry.  The last time I saw him was at the TTA in Nashville, and have kept touch by phone and e-mails.  I am saddened that I did not know of his death until now, due to medical problems in my family.  R.I.P., Carl.  You will be sorely missed.

Together with his brother Richard and his parents Mary Louise and Henry Tapp Carl came to Germany in 1968 and stayed with my family as an exchange student going to school with my brother Christoph. He stayed in touch with us ever since, sending Christmas letters and photographs or - in the last couple of years - short comments on facebook. He also came to see us several times in Germany, his last visit was in the 1990s. We didn't know then that it was the last time we would see each other. So sad!

Carl I served with you in the military, we were together in Ft. Gordon, after AIT I was assigned to 178th Sig in Heidelberg along with your fiance Patricia.
In the late 70s we hooked up again at CLSU-F, where we celebrated you leaving the service to become a truck owner and driver. RIP fellow solider.

Perhaps it was because both his parents were teachers, but I have rarely met a man who was more generous with his knowledge or more patient with someone like me, who needed a lot of help in grasping it. As Hamlet said, "Taken for all in all, I shall not look upon his like again."

Carl was an icon in the trucking industry and will be sorely missed.  I will be forever grateful for his counsel and coaching.  Rest in Peace CT

Carl You were a great brother-in-law and we had some very good talks over the years. I will miss talking with you and just spending time at your home. we never used the word love but we were pretty close. I respect what you were able to do for the industry we both have careers in .I will miss you brother and I do love you my heart is heavy with your loss .Love Bob J Canterbury.

As a driver at PAM Transport, he treated me as equal to him and actually listened to the needs of drivers, implementing what he could to help drivers out.  We became very good friends and it saddens me that I have lost touch.  He will be dearly missed.

Carl Tapp was a long time friend there was never a trip to NW Ark. without visiting him. The experiences with Carl are life time of memories from his vast knowledge in the Trucking industry his Military tenure and the many outings enjoyed with him. 
My last visit was in March enjoyed a great conversation while he enjoyed some good tasting things for a snack.  I knew that may well be my last visit with Carl so made it valuable as it is easy to say a lot of things however hard to say Goodbye. He leaves a void in the Transportation industry and emptiness in many Hearts memories will be my treasure.

Murray and I always enjoyed our yearly visits with Carl when we were in Eureka Springs for the Corvette Weekend. He was always in a good mood, always enjoyed visits and Carl was always ready to talk trucks or Harley's.  He will be missed by us, but know that he is pain free, walking around heaven with family and friends.
