Danny Ray Yates, 72, passed away on February 22, 2021 in Centerton, Arkansas. He was born on June 14, 1948 to the late Edward and Kathryn (Watson) Yates in Olathe, Kansas. He was the loving husband of Sandra (Sullivan) Yates for 50 years.
Mr. Yates was a minister in the Church of the Nazarene from 1979-1991 and he enjoyed this more than anything else he did in the succeeding years. He put his spirit of ministry into everything he did in life. He sang in several Christian groups including, The Boatmen, 4Given, Light Keepers, and Heavensent.
After he retired as a minister, he taught life skills at the Adult Development Center and then greeted at Walmart for the next 10 years before retiring for good. During his retirement, he enjoyed small engine repair and collecting pocketknives. He was also practiced Lapidary and made handles for knives.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard, his parents and siblings, Ronnie Yates, Rolly Yates, Alberta Crist, Edna Fraker, Darlene French, and Charlene Johnson.
Danny is survived by his wife, Sandra of Gravette; son, Chris and his wife, Kelly of Oklahoma City; brother, Chuck Yates (Carol) of Overland Park, Kansas; sisters, Patty May of Olathe, Kansas and Barbara Thomas of Mesa, Arizona; 4 grandchildren, Ashley Yates, Alex Yates, Brianna Grantz, Skyler Yates; 2 great grandchildren, Timberlynn and Gracelyn.
