Born on November 10, 1972, in Odessa, Texas, to Charles V. and Belinda Lou Sterling, David grew up surrounded by a large family and lifelong friends. As a boy, he was one of four rambunctious brothers. Full of energy and adventure, he was affectionately nicknamed “Pork Chop” for his adorable chubby cheeks. He and his brothers spent countless hours riding bicycles, catching crawdads, and finding mischief wherever they could—childhood adventures that became some of the family's most cherished stories.
David later moved to Benton County during his late teenage years, where he formed deep, lasting friendships. A proud patriot, he enlisted in the United States Army on November 21, 1990. He served honorably during Operation Desert Storm, deploying to the Middle East on his 19th birthday, November 10, 1991, and earning well-deserved recognition for his dedicated service to his country.
In May of 1994, David’s life changed dramatically when he was involved in a devastating automobile accident that left him permanently disabled. Despite the tremendous challenges he faced daily, David lived his life with inspiring determination, resilience, and a sharp wit. He loved playing pool and became quite skilled at the game, sharing countless hours of laughter and friendly competition around the table with his Uncle Guy and close friends.
David’s family fondly recalls his mother, Belinda, taking her boys to Sunday buffets, always joking that the growing boys had an "empty leg to fill." Above all else, David deeply loved his family, his friends, and his faithful dogs. His kindness, sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and enduring love will be remembered always.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Charles V. Sterling and Belinda Jarret Sterling, his brother, Dennis Lynn Hamilton, his uncles, Harrison “Guy” Harvey and Clay Leroy Harvey, and aunt, Doris Landis Harvey.
He is survived by his brothers, Charles V. Sterling Jr. and Clay William Sterling, both of Rogers; his sister, Sandra Ragland; his aunt, Marsha Ward (Oliver) of Olive Branch, Arkansas; cousin, Roby Lee Cannaly (Connie), as well as many other loving cousins, extended family members, and lifelong friends.
Though he is no longer with us, the memories David created and the love he shared will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
