She attended Tripoli High School and Iowa State Teacher’s College at Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was a teacher in several one room country schools and also did substitute teaching in Evansdale, Iowa. During World War II, she worked as a defense worker at Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha, Nebraska.
She was married to Vernon R. Larson on October 16, 1943 in Omaha Nebraska. They moved to Evansdale, Iowa where they raised their family. In 1969, they moved to Rogers, Arkansas, where Dorothy was employed by Continental Can Company. She was also a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Vernon; 3 infant grand daugthers, an infant great grandson; her brother, Albert Bany; sister, Kathryn Stoen; foster son, William Waters; and son-in-law Duane Wolff.
She is survived by her son, Timothy Larson and Debra of Texas; 5 daughters, Bonnie Happel and Elden of Iowa, Rebecca Larson and Walter Hinton of Springdale, Gayle Wolff of Iowa, Janet Korpella of Rogers, and Julie Wallingford of Rogers; brother, Paul Bany and Karla of Minnesota; sister, Margueritte Malcomson and Clark of Minnesota; brother-in-law Herb Stoen of Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 4:30 until 7pm in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers. Her funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 11am with visitation one hour prior to the service at Peace Lutheran Church, Rogers with burial to follow at Bland Cemetery in Bentonville.
