Born June 28, 1934 in Thorp, WI to the late Michael and Anna (Banach) Pilarski, Dorothy had a vivacity
in life that was hard to match and easy to admire. Dorothy was united in beatific marriage to Harold
Millard on July 8, 1950 in West Allis, WI. Dorothy was an energetic manager of food service in
both Wisconsin and Arkansas, and was the proud owner of the Garden of Eatin' Bakery and
Ice Cream Parlor. One of her greatest achievements was to have made Arkansas’s sesquicentennial
celebration cake for then Governor Clinton. Besides her award winning confections, Dorothy was also passionate about singing, gardening, birding and photography. She was a melodic member of the Sweet Adelines and the Amazing Grace Singers.
Early on, her lifetime love of gardening led to her 1973 award for the best peony by the American International Peony Society and culminated in her membership in the Garden Club of Rogers. Due to her love of birds and other wildlife, much hard
work paved the way to her backyard being designated as a Wildlife Refuge by the National Wildlife Federation.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Greg Millard and wife Sharon and their children Melissa and Steven of Oak Creek, WI,
Gary Millard and his children Chad and Holly (Brian) McManus of Oak Creek, WI and Marcia Littlebird-Brook and partner Derik Michaels of Clarkdale, AZ and her children Sarah (Kendall) Frederick of NC, and Maryellen (Chris) Murawski of Muskego, WI.
She also leaves behind 4 great grandchildren, her siblings Virginia Maitz, Phyllis Klaus, Eugene Pilarski, Pat Benzel; and her loving companion of 8 years Gerald Dunham.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10:00-11:30am with a funeral service at 11:30am at the Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery in Brookfield, WI.
