November 5, 1928 - October 5, 2021
Emily was born in Spokane, Washington to Wendell and Gladys Gibson Danielson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Russ Todd, son, Pat Todd, daughter Kitty Schmidt, and brother Chester Danielson. She survived by her sister Pegi Ackerman and husband, Paul (Yakima, WA), daughters Laurie Morgan and husband, Byron (Springdale, AR), and Becky Nordyke and husband, Randy (Long Beach, CA). She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
When Emily was nine, her family moved to Long Beach, California. There she met her sweetheart, Russ Todd and they were married in 1952. Their lives were very busy raising four children.
In 1954, Emily’s life was changed forever when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. The rest of her life was dedicated to loving and serving God, and through Him, loving and serving others. Her prayer life was focused and consistent. If you asked her to pray for you, she did!
In the 60’s, Emily took cake decorating lessons. She worked hard and honed her skills turning them into a home business of creating beautiful and unique decorated cakes for weddings and various other occasions. Later, she learned to crochet. She practiced until she was a was a “world class”, prolific crocheter. She held free weekly crochet classes in her home for years. She also taught Sunday School and women’s Bible studies, spoke at Christian conferences, led women’s support groups, taught a class for widows at a local community center, and mentored many younger women.
In the early 90’s, Emily moved to Springdale, Arkansas where she resided until her passing.
Life was often very difficult for Emily. She lost her son, Pat in his twenties, she lost Russ after a ten year fight against cancer, and she lost her daughter, Kitty after many years of physical struggles.
Recently, one of the women Emily mentored said that Emily would often say, “We are here to know God and show God”. Her life mission was growing in her walk with the Lord and ministering to others for God’s glory. Only God knows how many lives she impacted and how many will spend eternity with Him because of her.
