

Frances was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 21, 1926 to Frank Kalcich and Mary Kovach Kalcich. She was the oldest of seven children.
Frances attended and graduated from Clarksville, Arkansas High School.Frances married James Edward Hales in Little Rock, AR on December 15, 1945. They lived in Belzoni and Leland, Mississippi, and had seven children - six boys and one girl who died shortly after birth. After all of the children were grown, Frances and James moved to Rogers, Arkansas in 1987 to be near their children.
Frances worked at various jobs her whole life helping her husband, James, to provide for her family. She loved and was extremely proud of her six boys, and they all became successful businessmen and professionals. Frances loved to quilt and worked for months hand sewing decorative quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved flowers and vegetable gardening, maintaining a garden right up until just before her death.
Frances was a generous, honest, loving, strong, caring woman, and a great inspiration to her family and all who knew her. Even though her husband was non-Catholic, she faithfully attended and brought her children to Mass every Sunday. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Rogers, AR.
Frances is survived by her sister, Mary Kalcich, six sons: James F. Hales (Pat Roaten Hales), Thomas E. Hales (Cathy Coggin Hales), John M. Hales (Deborah Reynolds Hales), William A. Hales (Karon Barrentine Hales), Robert J. Hales (Norma Scott Hales), David C. Hales (Karen Meisel Hales), 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 10:00AM St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers. Burial to follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.
