Gary Gene McLeod, age 74, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and supportive caregivers. He was born on May 22, 1951, in Rogers, Arkansas, to John Cleveland (JC) and Esther Maye McLeod.
Gary was a devoted husband, father, grandfather ("Dooda"), and friend to many throughout his life. He enjoyed cooking, spending time with his grandchildren, watching sports—especially the Arkansas Razorbacks—and western movies. He was particularly passionate about cooking, believing that food brought family and friends together.
He retired from Southwestern Bell/AT&T after 35 years of service. He cherished his work family, daily morning coffee at Freddy’s Pharmacy, and worked diligently to provide for his family. His strong work ethic stemmed from his upbringing on his farm in Little Flock. He was a volunteer firefighter and a dedicated supporter of his Little Flock community.
Gary found great joy in hosting his lifelong friends, who were a cornerstone of his life. Their bond was built on steadfast support, mutual understanding, and a wealth of shared memories. His passion for cooking shone brightly during the supper clubs he frequently hosted.
Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice Sue McLeod, his brother, Bobby Dale McLeod, and his parents, JC and Esther McLeod.
He is survived by his two sons: Cleve McLeod and his wife, Caroline, of Fayetteville; Carter McLeod and his wife, Hannah, of Rogers; his sister, Brenda McLeod, of Rogers; and five grandchildren: Harper and Hayley McLeod of Fayetteville; and Ella, Camille, and Ever McLeod of Rogers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 7th, from 5-7 PM at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
