Geraldine (Gerry) Westbrook passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in her home of 36 years in Rogers, AR. A loving and devoted Christian, Gerry was known for her ready-laugh, her insight, kindness and fierce family loyalty. Family dinners at her table were filled with loud laughter, jokes, old stories that get better with time and plenty of great food. Family time, long talks and staying connected to a growing family that was spread across the country were among her gifts. She connected the family as “information central” and made time for any that called, ready for a chat, a laugh, advice, sympathy or congratulations - often all in the same conversation. She loved gardening her entire life and kept her yard cheery and colorful, a true reflection of her personality.
Gerry was born on September 12, 1931, in Healing Springs, AR to Charles Norman Garriott and Laura Blanche (Casey) Garriott. She is survived by her daughters Mary Kay Jones of Perris, CA and Deanne (Westbrook) Ritchie with husband Steven Ritchie of Rogers, AR; daughter-in-law Betty Westbrook of Houston, TX; her grandchildren Janet René (Westbrook) Ellis with husband Michael of Houston, TX, Taylor Schneider with wife Sloan (Stevens) of Rogers, AR, Austin Westbrook of Rogers, AR, Lauren Kayleen Westbrook with Noah Madryga of Kansas City, MO; her sister Norma (Garriott) Satterlee with husband Bob of Rogers, AR; Nieces Sheryl James of Edinburg, TX, Michelle (Satterlee) Boydston with husband Kevin of Rogers, AR, Ginny Hiatt of Arlington, TX, Tammy Westbrook Atkinson Smith of Victoria, TX, Lynn Westbrook Roudybush; Nephews Mark Satterlee with wife Pam of Carl Junction, MO, Alan James of Edinburg, TX, Sheldon Westbrook with wife Shelly of Camarillo, CA, Doug Westbrook of Houston, TX, Rick Westbrook; Brother in law Bill Westbrook with wife Doris of Victoria, TX.
Gerry became a nurse at Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen, TX and it was while she was on the work/study program there that she met the love of her life, Taylor Clayton Westbrook Jr at a skating rink. While it wasn't quite love at first sight (for her) his big personality and sense of humor & adventure won her heart and they married in November 1952. They started a family, built a life and loved, talked, laughed and endured until his death in 2006.
While they raised four children in Harlingen, TX, Gerry worked several places, notably as a librarian for Austin Elementary School where she made lifelong friends and an indelible impression on many young minds. She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Harlingen. After relocating to Rogers, AR, Gerry worked for Farmers Insurance Group until she retired. After retirement, she filled her days with caring for her husband, spending quality time with her children and grandchildren, gardening and keeping up with family. Holidays major or minor, birthdays, graduations and plain ol' Sunday dinners were always at her house. And no matter how long you stayed, she was always sorry you had to go. She made you feel welcomed and loved.
Gerry was predeceased by her husband Taylor Clayton Westbrook Jr, son David Allen Westbrook, son Larry Duane Westbrook, twin brother Gerald Garriott, brother Charles (Chuck) Garriott, sister Pauline (Garriott) James and a myriad of friends and relatives. There was quite a crowd waiting for her at the gates of heaven when Jesus called her home.
