Kansas to Gilbert Lee and Lois Katherine (Catte) Hicks.
He was an employee of Walmart since March 1992. He worked closely with the University of Fort Smith developing real world application to the teaching process. He recently received his Bachelor Degree from the U of A, Fort Smith.
He loved technology, starting out with ham radios early in his life, to implementing drone technology in the business environment.
Greg had a passion for aviation, with much of his time spent at the Bentonville airport. During the summer you could find Greg on the lake, boating, skiing, and pulling the kids on the tubes. His boat was the first to be un-winterized and last to be winterized.
He enjoyed working at his shop, teaching his sons and friends, everything from welding, mechanics, woodworking and machining, to livestock care.
He enjoyed building and creating with various materials. He would make airplane parts, generators on trailers and once even made a canon. He loved sharing his knowledge through teaching others. Greg never knew a stranger and was a friend to all he met.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Greg is survived by his sons, Geoff Hicks of Bentonville and Seth Stites of Gravette; his mother, Lois Hicks of Ft. Smith; 2 sisters, Kathy Caperton and husband, Steve of Ft. Smith and Pennie Clark and husband, Bobby of Greenwood; 2 grandchildren, Kylie Williams and Kayden Stites; and 6 nieces and nephews, Joshua Clark and wife, Jessica, Sarah Pope and husband, Michael, Bobby Clark, Jennifer Hart and husband, Dustin, Alisa Range and husband, Steve and Jeff Caperton and wife, Alisha.
A memorial service will be on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 11:30am in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel.
